Wakefield Hospital is central New Zealand’s largest and leading private hospital. It offers a wide range of surgical procedures from straightforward day case procedures to complex gastrointestinal, gynaecological, vascular, orthopaedic and cardiac surgical procedures. The facility is a modern one, housed in character buildings, comprising a suite of seven operating theatres, a state-of-the-art radiology facility, a two roomed endoscopy suite, an angiographic suite, a five bed ICU facility and some 70 in-patient beds. The hospital employs a number of junior medical staff to provide on-site 24 hour medical cover and support for the specialists, many of whom work exclusively at Wakefield Hospital.
